ADHD Routines After Burnout

Rebuild with external cues, smaller starts, repeatable order, protected recovery, and a restart that survives a missed day.

Plain answerAfter burnout, begin with a system small enough to repeat when motivation is low. Put the first action outside your head, reduce choices at transition points, use a consistent order, and define the minimum version and restart before chasing a perfect streak.

Why the old system failed matters

A routine may collapse because it demanded too much, hid every cue, relied on memory, ignored sleep or health, or required high motivation daily. Fix the failure mode instead of recreating the same load with a new planner.

Two book routes

The ADHD Gameplan carries the story and the system built after collapse. The ADHD Rulebook offers thirty shorter rules when direct entry is more useful.

Know when self-help is not enough

Burnout can overlap with depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, physical illness, and significant ADHD impairment. Persistent inability to function, severe distress, or safety concerns deserve qualified care—not a harder routine.
