TOLEDO, OH — The annual Polar Paws & Santa Claws 5K, hosted by the Toledo Zoo, is bringing extra holiday cheer to runners this season — with a medal that changes color under sunlight.
The 2025 medal, produced by X T-shirt, features a playful polar bear that transforms into a red panda when exposed to sunlight — a nod to the Zoo’s winter wildlife and the festive spirit of the season.
“Just like the event itself, this medal is about joy, discovery, and connection,” said Ryan Zhu, founder of X T-shirt. “We wanted runners to experience that same moment of surprise they feel when they visit the Zoo — something that brings a smile and captures the wonder of the holidays.”
